Testing continued today with the new GunX training pistol after taking the weekend off to run a field trial this past weekend. Ran two set-ups today with Dave Smith's training group. No problems with the pistol except three bird boys were fighting over who would get the "new" pistol. No misfires, no problems.
Will continue to test this week and then run the endurance test sometime after Thursday and after the N. FL FT. I plan to run the trial this weekend then run the endurance test.

What do you estimate your shot count is at now, over 1000?

We're at approx. 450 shots through the pistol. I plan to shoot a 1000 rds through the pistol once this training week is done - as time allows (I have another FT this weekend). to simulate an excellerated life test. Our purpose to this point has been to have Dave Smith's several different birdboys each shoot the pistol several set-ups to see if there are things that can go wrong. For example, one of these guys has gone through 4 different pistols since last Nov 1.
Since testing started last Tuesday AM, there have been no misfires, no issues with loading or extracting and the pistol has been exposed to just about every primer on the market. And we have purposely mixed primers in each loading. We have also purposely not cleaned the pistol or sprayed any lubricant. We are trying to neglect the pistol as it will likely see in normal field use on a pro's truck. I am not suggesting you should neglect or abuse the pistol. Any revolver, regardless of the quality of materials or its design will be more reliable and last longer if it is cleaned & lubricated routinely. I don't mean a detailed gunsmith cleaning, just wipe off the foulings, dirt and moisture; then spray a lubricant like Gunlube, even WD-40 around the moving parts, esp where the hammer goes into the frame at the end of the day. Then let the pistol sit overnight and wipe off again before you use it the next day - just a simple routine to maintain the pistol (any pistol). This will help keep springs from corroding and help insure the life of the pistol reaches its full potential. And the qualities of the materials of this pistol are equal to those of fine revolvers - 440 stainless, and the workmanship is outstanding too. As for our opinion, we have moved ahead with the Dogs Afield introductory promotion. In addition to the RTF Give Away where you can win a pistol and 5000 primers, our promo offers the pistol at $189 including the mfr's lifetime warranty. This is a real bargain for such a quality pistol. So be sure to sign up for a chance at the free pistol and if you don't win then take advantage of the introductory offer from Dogs Afield, www.dogsafield.com or click the Dogs Afield banner above. And BTW, moving ahead on our offer is a tangible indication in our confidence in this pistol. More later.....

GD, since you are putting some major number of loads through this gun, what have you been doing as far as cleaning? None .... whip it off ..... or a good break down cleaning every X times?
Guess I should read before I type ..... belie that request.

Granddaddy is right we just received ours today and the workman ship is great. Very impressed. Hope they hold up long term, but the first impression is good.

I received mine today, way nicer than I expected. It looked bigger on the internet. It's about exactly the same size as the NEF, with the grip being a little bigger.
Looks well made, the selling point for me was the stainless steel. It looks and acts like a "real" revolver with a non working barrel. Well done. John Lash |

Just finished another day of training with Dave Smith and his training group. Pistol worked flawlessly, no issues. Everyone who has seen the pistol loves it.
We are purposely not cleaning the pistol. For this testing we are just shooting it, putting it on the truck until the next day and shooting it some more. With my personal training pistols, I wipe them off after a training session and put a squirt of RemOil around the hammer & trigger, then put it up. No detailed cleaning just wipe the foulings off & lub the hammer and trigger, trying to get some lub around the springs.
